It’s been a long road back. And a long, hot and humid summer.
And I’m training for two marathons. First one up, Chicago:
And I’m in trouble.
I’m not sure when it happened, but I got WAAAAAY off course in my training. To date, with just about 40 days left until the race (as of this writing), I’ve run a long run of only 13.1.
And it was anything but easy.
So this means I have 30 days to get in at least two long runs of 20 miles or more. And if I don’t want to get injured, I need to be super smart and careful.
I’ve decided to change my strategy. I’m throwing away the watch (figuratively) and just going out to enjoy the running.
My plan, as of today is to run 15 Labor Day weekend, 18 the weekend after and then two 20s back to back the following weeks which will give me one week to taper back down to 13.
I think I can do it, actually, I know I can do it. I’ve done it before.
I’m going to start posting a review of my training each week to keep me accountable. Please hold me to it.
So that’s my training, how’s your fall marathon training going?
[…] I’m being examined. There’s most effective 3 weeks left till the Chicago Marathon. […]
