As of this writing, there are 23 weeks until the TCS NYC Marathon.
I had a dream last night, more of a nightmare really, that while I was excited to get into the race this year given the limited capacity, the marathon was in a few days and I was worried because I felt I hadn’t trained enough. But then I decided that I was in decent shape and would be fine.
And then I remembered I hadn’t run any long training runs. And was worried again. But then I woke up.
I think my subconscious was telling me that it’s time to get on the stick. It’s time to plan my run, if you get my drift.
Most marathon training plans run 16 weeks. There are also a handful of theories that 20 weeks is the magic number. This year I’m going with 23 – just to be extra sure.
I am here to tell the world that I am officially in training. I’ll have more to say about it in the coming days and weeks, but suffice it to say, I’m off the ice cream. And hamburgers. And pizza. And chips. And tacos. And, well, I guess I need to change my entire diet and thought process on exercising, eating and generally taking care of myself.
And if it takes a marathon to do that, I’m fully okay with that.
So today, I leave you with a little inspiration.
Marathoning, my friends, is back!
