If you read this space (and if you’re here, it means that, at least you do now), you know that I tore my meniscus and had surgery on it back in January.
What I haven’t talked about too much is the rehab and work I’ve been doing on it to get back into running shape.
I like to think I’ve been really smart about this injury and taking my time getting back to it.
Part of what’s made me so smart is my work with Dr. Lev Kalika at New York Dynamic Neuromuscular Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Clinic.
I’ve been working with him and some of the physical therapists at his clinic since February and I while I’m no where near as fast as I was, I’m out running 4-5 times a week (and getting faster every day).
But, the point of working with Dr. Kalika was not to get fast, no, it was to get back to running and to reduce my chances of injury in the future.
As much as I hate to admit it, I’m much closer to 50 than I am to 20 and I need to be smart about my body.
I’m going to do a series of videos about my journey back to running with the good folks at New York Dynamic Neuromuscular Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Clinic.
Here’s the initial exam, check out my reaction at 3:42 when he tells me how long he recommends people take off before running again.
Priceless and very typical of me.
I thought I’d be back to it in a few weeks.
Little did I know what I was in for.
