I’m still sorting through my feelings about the tragedy at the Boston Marathon yesterday. I’m planning a post but am still unsure of how to approach the topic.
In the meantime, social media within the running community has been buzzing about a Run 4 Boston. I could think of no better way to help digest what happened than to go for a run
The rules for the Run 4 Boston are simple, wear the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) colors (blue and yellow), lace up your sneakers and run. Inside, outside, under water, out in space, it doesn’t matter. Just go for a run.
Some groups on Facebook were asking for members to upload self portraits wearing BAA colors and there are now countless albums all over the Internet. After looking through a few of them, one thing has been reinforced for me, we are all runners if we say we are runners. We’re skinny, not skinny, short, tall, slow, fast, white, black, pink, brown, yellow and purple. We come from every walk of life, every religion, every creed and we come from all over the world.
So this afternoon, I joined the runners from around the world, strapped on my Garmin and my GoPro, put on the jersey I earned at the 2012 Boston Marathon and headed out to my favorite place to run, Central Park.
As I said, I’ll post my thoughts about the tragedy when I’m finished sorting them out, in the meantime, here are some beauty shots of a gorgeous day, in my favorite park that I am lucky to call my backyard.
