Snow Tubing at Camelback Mountain

in Running Life

I’m not huge on winter sports.

To clarify, I grew up in MA and it was kind of a prerequisite that you could ski. So I did, but not a lot. I can get myself down the mountain on black diamonds, but would shy away from the doubles.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and my little family and I are chugging across the Garden State to PA to meet up with a family of one of my son’s classmates in order to spend two hours at modest expense to take the magic carpet up what amounts to a bunny slope carved into tracks so we can hop on inner tubes and slide to the bottom.

The cool thing was I didn’t need to buy one piece of clothing for this. I used a combination of running and cycling gear and was more than warm and dry enough that I didn’t even need the hand and feet warmers!

Was it fun? You bet.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

Of course I grabbed my GoPro and captured the fun of the day, it’s what I do.

Here’s what it looked like:

  1. I too was just there and I felt very disappointed in the fact that you are only allowed to stay 2 hours and my family and I only got to go down the hill three times in that 2-hour span. If you are taking a trip to do this don’t expect continuous riding over and over again and for $70 I feel that’s outrageous.

    • I was in the Poconos last week… Did my research and decided on Montage. Was more affordable and could tube from 4-9! We arrived early and got our first 3 rides in the 1st 45 minutes. The crowd piled in and the kids only got 3 mores rides in the next 2 hours.
